Our Mission

The LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus serves as a resource for Members of Congress, their staff, and the public on LGBTQ+ issues at the federal level. The Caucus works toward the extension of equal rights, the repeal of discriminatory laws, the elimination of hate-motivated violence, and the improved health and well-being for all regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity and expression.

In the 117th Congress, the Equality Caucus has indentified the following 12 legislative priorities: the Equality Act; Prohibition of Medicaid Funding for Conversion Therapy Act; Tyler Clementi Higher Education Anti-Harassment Act; To Establish A Commission to Study the Stigmatization, Criminalization, and Ongoing Exclusion and Inequity for LGBTQ Servicemembers and Veterans; Every Child Deserves a Family Act; SERVE Act; Juror Non-Discrimination Act; LGBTQ Business Equal Credit Enforcement and Investment Act; To Designate the Pulse National Memorial Act; Safe Schools Improvement Act; the LGBTQ Data Inclusion Act; and a forthcoming bill on violence against the transgender community.
